PROGRESS MADE ON FORMING A WASHINGTON STATE CANNABIS COMMISSION
In late October, the Washington State Department of Agriculture signaled its acceptance of a working document to be used as the basis for the formation of a Washington State Cannabis Commission. This is an important step that clears the way for formal establishment procedures to begin under RCW 15.66, the enabling act that permits formation of an agricultural commission through a referendum of farmers of a particular agricultural commodity.
A Campaign Committee is being formed to promote the creation of the Cannabis Commission among licensed cannabis producers, and to meet the statutory requirements associated with its formation.
The Cannabis Farmers Council strongly supports the formation of a Cannabis Commission, and has prepared a list of Frequently Asked Questions as an introduction to Ag Commissions generally, and our vision for a Cannabis Commission in particular.
We expect further steps toward this goal will be taken in early 2018, and we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the benefits of establishing the Washington State Cannabis Commission with the hope that we’ll be able to count on your support..
